Term 1

Term 1

In English, we will begin by writing an alternative traditional tale using the story 'The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig'. We will then be moving to 'George's Marvellous Medicine' for the rest of the term. There will be a focus on writing character profiles and instruction writing. Children will also be given Spelling Shed logins, which is an online resource to support them with their spellings at home. These spellings will be tested each week.

In Maths, the main focus will be on securing children's number and place value knowledge. We will be introducing the children to Times Tables Rock stars, which is a resource children can access online, at home to help support them with their 2, 5, and 10 times tables.

Our Big Question for the term is 'Is plastic the best material?', which links to both our Science topic 'Uses of everyday materials' and our Curriculum topic 'Toys from the past'.

Please see the topic web below for more information.

Children will be expected to read most nights in the week for at least 10 minutes. Please record what you have been reading and how your child has got on with the book in your child's reading record.

Homework will be uploaded on to Edmodo each week, so please ensure that you have signed up to your class page.

P.E will be every Wednesday, so make sure that your child comes in to school in the correct kit. Please make sure earrings are not worn, if your child is not confident with taking them out.
